Michigan’s Going Pro Training Fund Application Process Starting Now!

It’s time once again for the State of Michigan’s annual Going Pro Talent Fund (GTPF) grant competition, formerly known as the Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF). GPTF ensures Michigan’s employers have the talent they need to compete and grow, and individuals have the skills they need for in-demand jobs.

The Talent Fund provides competitive awards for training that enhances talent, productivity and employment retention while increasing the quality and competitiveness of Michigan’s employers. Companies facing a critical issue for which training may be a solution are encouraged to apply for the GPTF this Fall. See the attached PDF for a brief overview of the program.

In recent years the state of Michigan approved several million dollars to reimburse employers through this fund for training their workers.  Dozens of companies in all industry clusters in our region applied and were awarded funds, including more than $870,000 awarded to 11 CAMC member companies last year.

The first step toward securing GPTF funds for your training needs is to schedule a meeting with your local Michigan Works! Agency.  Employers in the Lansing area should contact Teri Sand at tsand@camw.net or 517-492-5516. Employers outside the Greater Lansing area can find their local Michigan Works! by typing in their zip code on the Michigan Works! Association’s website at www.michiganworks.org.
